Statewide Child and Family Centre

We worked for over four years with Kerstin Thompson Architects on the Statewide Child and Family Centre in Melbourne's north. The Victorian government has invested $7.3 in this first-of-its-kind centre in Victoria, giving children and families access to therapy in a residential setting.

The 12-bed centre, operated by Austin Health, allows families to stay onsite for a number of weeks while they receive therapy. The shared living spaces and gardens give a home-like feel to help families develop emotional connections.

The facility has incorporated feedback from mental health specialists to be more child and family friendly than previous facilities, creating a comforting and inclusive space for everyone.

The centre includes residences, therapy rooms, activity areas, meeting rooms, administration facilities, indoor/outdoor seating and BBQ areas. High ceilings and beautiful finishes, along with the use of timber, has created an incredibly attractive space. Credit goes to Kerstin Thompson Architects on an amazing design.
